2018–19 RTD CollegePass Referendum

When is voting week?

April 9th-13th, 2018

Where can I vote?

An email with a voting link will go out to your student email address on Monday, April 9th. Additionally, there will be voting stations set up on campus Monday, April 9th - Thursday, April 12th. Keep an eye out for the signs!

Can I vote for the RTD CollegePass on the same ballot as my Student Government Elections?

Yes! This year, the RTD Referendum question will be on the same ballot as the SGA elections. You will log into one system, vote for your student government representatives, and then vote on your RTD CollegePass.

Why must there be a new referendum for the RTD CollegePass?

The student body must vote each year to decide whether or not they support the RTD CollegePass student fee in order for the program to continue.

What does a “yes” vote mean? What does a “no” vote mean?

A "yes” vote implies that you do want the CollegePass program to continue at the proposed price. Students do not vote on the cost of the pass itself. The proposed 2018–19 pass price will not exceed $102 per student, per semester for the 2018–19 academic year.

A “no” vote implies that you do not want the CollegePass to be offered at all.

How is the fee for the CollegePass calculated?

The Auraria Campus CollegePass program agreement is calculated based upon the total number of rides taken by students in the prior year, multiplied by RTD’s current cash fare (minus a 45% discount). This is the same formula that is used to calculate the CollegePass for other schools, including CU Boulder.

Will the pass price increase?

Due to enrollment, this year the cost of the CollegePass will decrease by $3. For 2017–18, the price was $105. For 2018–19, the cost will be $102.

Is this a good deal for students?

At $102 per semester, the Auraria Campus RTD CollegePass can be considered a great value for students. A similar pass for the general public currently costs $171 per month or approximately $855 per semester.

What does the CollegePass fee pay for?

You will be able to obtain an RTD CollegePass smart card, which will cover the following services:

  • Unlimited local and regional bus and light rail
  • Local Boulder service
  • Call-N-Ride
  • Service to and from Denver International Airport

The CollegePass does not include specialty services such as Access‑a‑Ride, BroncosRide, BuffRide, RockiesRide, RunRide, Saturday Shopper, and SeniorRide.
